Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about what a CFO does, where to start, what the services cost, and how we work.

Working with Primul Tău CFO

How is a CFO different from an accountant?

An accountant records what has happened and handles statutory reporting. A CFO uses that information to explain performance, compare options, assess risk, and show how a decision will affect profit and cash.

What is a Fractional CFO?

A Fractional CFO brings senior financial judgment without joining the company full-time. The work may be focused, project-based, or ongoing. Primul Tău CFO handles defined services and projects; recurring Fractional CFO partnerships are delivered through Capital Decisions.

What size companies do you work with?

We work with entrepreneurs leading companies with annual revenue from approximately EUR 500,000 to more than EUR 50 million, typically labeled as small and medium enterprises (SMEs). However, the services are designed for owners facing a specific financial question or decision, regardless of the size of the business.

Where should I start?

Start with the Financial Diagnostic Session when you have one question but are not yet sure how much work it requires. Choose Know Your Numbers when you need better reporting and a clearer view of your numbers. Choose Get Bank Ready when a bank will assess the company. Choose a Strategic CFO Project when a major decision needs senior financial advice plus the financial modeling to put the decision impact into numbers.

Do I need financial training to work with you?

No. We explain the assumptions, the analysis, and the recommendation in plain English so you can make the decision yourself.

Who will actually work with me?

You work with one or two of our senior finance professionals. Florin Pop and Roxana Gherghelescu, who founded Primul Tău CFO, stay involved throughout. They manage the relationship, supervise the project, and occasionally deliver directly, though not on every session. You can find more details in the team section of the website.

Am I committing to ongoing support?

No. Each service is a standalone engagement. If the work uncovers another issue, we explain the options and you decide whether to continue.

Financial Diagnostic Session

A 90-minute session, prepared in advance, to answer one financial question and set out what to do next.

View the Financial Diagnostic Session
What information should I provide before the session?

It depends on what you bring. Usually a balance sheet and trial balances for the relevant periods, or other documents relating to the decision.

What can we review in 90 minutes?

Because we have reviewed your information in advance, the 90 minutes go to the decision itself: its angles, its implications, and how it might be solved. You leave with a full understanding and clear next steps we would take together.

Will I receive a document after the session?

Yes. You receive a concise summary tailored to your question or issues, covering our conclusions, the priorities, and the next steps. It is not a template report.

Does the session commit me to another service?

No, you are never locked in. The session diagnoses the issue and shows the path. Resolving it usually means continuing with the service that fits, and the fee is credited when you do.

How is the €500 credit applied?

If you continue with any of the Primul Tău CFO services within 30 days of the session, the full €500 is credited against the service price.

Know Your Numbers

Three sessions to choose the right indicators, understand profit and cash, and build a management dashboard.

View Know Your Numbers
Do I need a finance background?

No. We explain each concept in plain language, working through your own figures and the real decisions in front of you, not textbook cases.

What information do I need to provide?

Just your trial balance and general ledger, taken directly from your accounting. Nothing to prepare on your side; we work from what your accountant already produces, and we tell you exactly what to request before we begin.

Will I receive a dashboard that is ready to use?

Yes. You keep a dashboard configured around your business, ready to update each month, and we show you how. Everything in it is customized to how your company runs.

Does the program replace my accountant or finance team?

No, and it is not meant to. Statutory accounting is built to report the past and meet compliance, and your accountant does that job. Running the business asks a different question: which numbers to watch, and what they mean for your next decision. The Know Your Numbers program bridges that gap, so you can read the information your accountant produces and act on it.

What happens after the three sessions?

You keep using the dashboard and the monthly routine on your own. If a complex decision comes up, we can continue with a Strategic CFO Project, or if you are heading into a financing conversation, Get Bank Ready covers that preparation. And when you're ready for ongoing financial leadership, that's where a long-term Fractional CFO comes in.

Get Bank Ready

Three working sessions to assess borrowing capacity and prepare for the bank.

View Get Bank Ready
Does the program guarantee loan approval?

No. The bank makes the final decision under its own lending policy and risk appetite. We prepare a credible case; we cannot promise approval.

Do you act as an intermediary with the bank?

No. The service prepares your company for the conversation; it does not include credit brokerage or negotiation on your behalf.

Can you tell me how much the company can borrow?

We assess repayment capacity and give you a realistic estimate based on the information available, not a promise about the bank’s final offer.

Which documents are required?

The exact list depends on the company and the type of financing. We usually review financial statements, trial balances, cash flow information, debt, receivables, the budget, and documents explaining the use of funds.

Is the program useful after a bank has declined an application?

Yes, especially if the bank has explained its concerns. We can review the weaknesses, identify what can be improved, and assess whether a new application is realistic under current conditions.

Strategic CFO Projects

Tailored CFO work on budgets, scenarios, investments, profitability, and the way the finance team operates.

View Strategic CFO Projects
What types of projects can you undertake?

Common ones are budgeting and cash flow planning, pricing and profitability, total real cost of a major new client, deciding on an investment or scaling move, and preparing to sell. If it's a specific financial decision, it can usually become a project.

How do you determine the price of a project?

The fee reflects the complexity of the work, the state of the available data, the timetable, and the deliverables. You see the fee before deciding to proceed, with no open-ended billing.

How much does a typical project cost?

Most projects fall between €2,000 and €3,000. Simpler decisions with clean data sit at the lower end; more complex projects that require preliminary analysis of your numbers sit higher. You will know the exact figure before we start.

How long does a project take?

Timing depends on the complexity, the available data, and how quickly you and your team can provide input. We agree on the stages and timetable before work begins.

Will you work with our management team?

Mostly with you. We keep the working group small, usually just you, and bring in the management team for input where a decision needs it, such as on sales, operations, or costs. That keeps the project focused and the fee contained.

Not sure where to start?

Send us the question, the context, and what you have. We will tell you what it would take and suggest the simplest place to start.
